French Trip 2019 - Day 6

On Thursday, we woke up again at 5:45am to catch the same train to Paris that we caught on Tuesday. However, we then took another train straight out of Paris to Parc Asterix, a thrill theme park to the north-east of Paris. The ten of us roughly split up into two groups – those of us who love the biggest rollercoasters and those who prefer more relaxed rides. Of course, those of us in the thrill-seekers group (myself, Liv, Amin, Mimo, David, Hannah and Miray) decided to tackle the biggest and scariest coaster in the park first – Oziris. It was amazing! It is definitely now one of my favourite rollercoasters in the world, only topped by Nemesis at Alton Towers. We then went on the next biggest rollercoaster, and then stopped for lunch. The queue times weren’t awful, but for the most time they were between 30 and 40 minutes. We suspected that the lines were not too long thanks to it not being French school half-term, so most other teenagers our age would have been at school.

Miray and I went to a chicken restaurant for lunch, whereas the rest of our group chose a Greek place. After lunch, we went on two more rollercoasters and a water ride. Liv brought her DofE waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers, so she was perfectly dry after being splashed by the ride, whereas the rest of us came off the log flume dripping wet. Luckily, the weather was really nice so we quickly dried off, ready to take the train back to Paris. We then ate in a brasserie near to the Gare du Nord train station in central Paris. I had steak and chips, and a little cheesecake for dessert which was absolutely delicious. With some of my friend’s streaks, bone marrow was served, so I tried this for the first time but found that it wasn’t for me! We arrived back at the Abbaye just after 9pm, and crashed in our tents almost immediately. The evening in Paris and the day as a whole was ‘formidable’.
