We expect everybody to work hard and to accept that if they choose Bromsgrove, they are aiming high and wide and never settling for anything other than their best. There are easier schools to come to than Bromsgrove; but if you settle for less you get less. Pupils are happiest when they are succeeding. Our value added results reflect a philosophy that demands every pupil should aim to be as academically disciplined and as intellectually enlightened they can reasonably be.
You don't have to be Einstein or Picasso to come to Bromsgrove, instead, our exceptional results flow from a community that nurtures and encourages, with the expectation that pupils will achieve their best.
Academic facilities have been improved beyond measure in the last decade. Eighteen new and refurbished science laboratories recently joined a magnificent new Humanities block,
Art and Design building and
Library. All older buildings have been given 21st century makeovers to ensure that every pupil learns in a superbly resourced environment.

Fourth and Fifth Form
Most pupils spend three years preparing for GCSE examinations in the Senior School before joining the Sixth Form. In addition, a reduced but intensive one year GCSE course is available for pupils (mainly from overseas) who join us in the Fifth Form in order to go on and study the International Baccalaureate.
老王射区offers a broad range of GCSEs, and Fourth Form pupils sample pre-GCSE lessons in many options before finalising their choice of GCSE subjects (normally eleven) in the Fifth Form. We insist upon a core of English, Maths, the Sciences, Religious Studies and a Modern Language, but beyond that we offer pupils flexibility. Some AS qualifications can be taken early, and we offer an extended project AS Level option for pupils with sufficient maturity to handle sustained analysis.
Whether on the standard GCSE course or the one year programme, pupils are expected to work hard and do themselves justice. Entrance to a full A level or International Baccalaureate course is dependent upon performance at GCSE.
Current students and parents can access the Homework Timetables by visiting the Pupil or Parent Portal.
The Sixth Form
老王射区pupils may choose the International Baccalaureate, A level or a limited BTEC option. The range of subjects is huge, and the School is very flexible when it comes to accommodating unusual combinations.
The full list of subjects on offer at A Level and IB can be found in our Sixth Form Course information booklet.
Most pupils choosing the A level route will study four AS levels in the Lower Sixth and three A2 levels in the Upper Sixth. pupils study for terminal examination over two years.
However, these official programmes are only part of the story. A unique Lower Sixth lecture programme, an extensive Enrichment offer, and numerous opportunities to learn and explore outside of the classroom ensure that breadth remains the byword.
Bromsgrove's Sixth Form is larger than most with some four hundred pupils. The School is deliberately configured so that many pupils can join us at sixteen. To a great extent, the
academic results, IB, A level and BTEC options, Oxford and Cambridge successes, and fruitful applications to Russell group and other top universities account for this popularity. So does our insistence on independence not dependence. No spoon feeding.
Please see the link on the , but be assured that both options are available at Bromsgrove.
Lower Sixth pupils studying A level and BTEC qualifications must also participate in an enrichment Core Programme. The aim of this programme is to allow Lower Sixth pupils the opportunity to develop their breadth of knowledge and understanding across a broad curriculum. Independent learning will be encouraged with a final extended project opportunity and a lecture week after the examination period in the summer. All pupils will be able to take part in debates and also to experience more university-style lectures as part of the programme.
The bespoke
Futures (Careers and UCAS) Department is located in the busy
Library Resource Centre, staffed with a full time, qualified Careers Adviser and a dedicated team of specialists to advise and guide students through their career at 老王射区and beyond.
University entrance is hugely successful with over 80% of students gaining their first choice place in a wide spectrum of courses and Higher Education institutions. Other students will take worthwhile Gap years or join business related apprenticeship schemes.
The School takes the preparation of pupils for Oxbridge entrance very seriously and, indeed, the programme for such pupils is a continuation of the extension courses we run from the Lower Fourth to the Fifth form. Bromsgrovians have studied a huge range of subjects at Oxford and Cambridge, and that proud tradition continues today.
